Snow Channel

Chayleigh is terrified of the snow channel. She screams and runs away from it anytime that it comes on. Not sure why. I am a such a mean Mommy though. Last night she had the hiccups really bad, so I turned it on. You guessed it, within seconds the hiccups were gone! LOL!

So excited

My internet buddy Barb is flying out here in August to meet me and check out the area to consider moving here! I am so excited! Now we can meet irl and I know that she is going to fall in love with Idaho. I can't wait!!

Yesterday

Yesterday went well. Chayleigh was well behaved and gave out kisses to anyone who asked, which is unusual with her. It is so fun to see her interact with Grandma and Grandpa. She even said Grandpa and Otis (who is the dog). We were impressed. But she didn't walk. The little stinker hasn't walked since that one time a few weeks ago. Oh well. She will walk when she wants. One thing at a time, right? LOL!

Shoes

I got a pair of New Balance shoes for Chayleigh off eBay for $11.50. I am STOKED! I love NB, but I am way to cheap to buy any for her in the stores. I ended up with a size 5, which means that she can't wear them for a while, but I am still excited with my score.

Speaking of shoes, why is it that they seem to fit them one day and the next they fit differently? She is in a size 3 now, but they seemed to be a little tight. So we went and bought a few pairs of Size 4 and they are HUGE! I tried the size 3's again and they fit just fine. How weird. Well at least we have size 4's for when she is ready.

Sunday

Sundays are always hard. It means cleaning and doing lots of laundry to get ready for the week. Luckily we did most of it on Friday, so we are kind of ahead of the game.

We are going to my parent's house in a few hours to celebrate my mom and step-dad's birthdays. Maybe Chayleigh will surprise them and do her walking trick. LOL!

Sick Again!

Chayleigh is sick again. I hate it when colds get so bad. So, we took her out to lunch for her favorite (pizza) and then off to Wal-Mart to get some cold stuff. She is napping now, so hopefully she wakes up feeling better.

Tomorrow is my Mom and Stepdad's birthday party, so hopefully she feels better before then.

Car Problems

Ug. So, a month or so ago, I have Shawn take my car into the dealership cause it is having "brake issues". Well they drive it and keep it all day long and then call us and tell us that it is nothing. So we get the car back and it continues to do it. So a few weeks later I get so fed up with it, I call and talk with the Service Manager. He asks me to bring it in the next day and they keep it all day again. So, at least this time they find that the rotor is gouged really bad, so they want to replace them. They have to order parts. Ug. So, they call and want my car again yesterday. Had it a whole day again. So, now we are up to three days to fix a stupid brake problem. Then they had the nerve to call me and tell me that it is time for my 30K maintenance and they wanted $473 to do it. HELLO??? It is a freaking Honda. What the hell does it need? So, I told them that I couldn't afford it, but went ahead and replaced the cabin air filter and had the transmission service and the coolant service done for a discounted price of $190! Holy crap! They told me that I can come back and do the rest of the service when I have more time and $$, but they will need the car for an entire day again!

Also, I am looking into an extended warranty since my warranty is up soon. Anyone have any experience with them? It is "bumper to bumper" and has a $0 deductible, for $1350. It will last me till 100K miles. I will probably check with my step dad to see if he can get me one cheaper though. Any thoughts/ideas?

Olympics - Part 2

There is hype this year about why it isn't doing so well. Personally for me, I think that is because I can go online during the day and see the results. After I already know who won, it takes the excitement out of watching it. Last time it was in the USA, so it was more likely that we would watch the sports as they were happening, rather than the 8 hours later that happens now.

I was sad that Jaret didn't stick the landing on his "Hurricane" and that Sasha moved to silver. Those were the two that I was really rooting for. I still have hopes for speedskating tonight!

Fridays

I love Fridays! Today Shawn is going into work late, so he gets to spend most of the day with Chayleigh. He will go to work when I get home, which is great for all of us. Nice thing about tonight is that he gets off at 9, instead of 1am, so I will actually get to see him too.

Memories

Last night I was snuggling with Chayleigh like we do every night for about 10 minutes before I transfer her to her crib. She got the hiccups. It was so cute. It brought me right back to when I was pregnant and she constantly had the hiccups. I had forgotten how reassured that always made me feel back then. Kind of like a constant reminder that she was there. Just thought that it was funny how little things bring you back.

Weird

I picked Chayleigh up from Daycare last night and the first thing that Christina said to me was "Chayleigh slipped and fell, so she might have a bruise on her forehead". Umm, she isn't walking yet, so how the hell did she slip and fall? We are kind of concerned, but I realize that accidents happen. She has wood floors and "usually" she has a rug where the kids play, but she had it cleaned yesterday. Hopefully Shawn will remember to put shoes on Chayleigh today so that when she tries to walk she will have some traction.

Luckily there doesn't appear to be any bruising on her forehead, but she does have a circle under her left eye. Wonder if it is going to bruise? Guess we will have to keep an eye on it. I just thought that it was weird that happened, but at least she told us about it, right?

Olympics

I haven't really watched them this year like I should have. I did stay up last night to see Sasha skate and WOW was it worth it! She is awesome! I so hope that she wins the Gold. Emily Huges was great too. How fun to go as well as she did for what little experience she has.

I am anxiously awaiting the ariels finals though cause a Boise Native is in there and hopefully he will do well. GO SPEEDY!!!

Other new tricks

Her new trick this weekend also is climbing onto the coffee table. Not really sure what it is that facinates her about it, but she LOVES it.

Oh and she also discovered how to pull EVERY single CD out of the case and throw them on the floor. Daddy figured it out and turned the case around in the entertainment center so that she can't do it anymore!

Chayleigh's First Steps

She FINALLY took a few steps on Friday. We are so excited and we were both here to see it. So was Grandpa Christensen. It was AMAZING. She was so proud of herself once she figured out what she had done. It started out as her screaming at me to come and pick her up. Then I just stood about a foot away from her and started clapping at her. She finally figured out that she was standing on her own and she took the two steps to the coffee table and "safety". It isn't much, but it is a start! We are still hoping that she will be walking by Easter!!

Being Sick Sucks

So, we are all three sick. We think that Chayleigh brought it home from Daycare, but hell who knows?!?!?

So, Shawn calls me up today to tell me that he has a fever of 106. So of course I start to freak out. Then after some more conversation of me trying to convince him to go to the doctor, he admits that it is really 100.6. Holy Shit. If I were closer to home, I would so go there and kick his ass. He totally freaked me out. But the good news is that Chayleigh seems to be feeling better. Shawn and I both have it in our lungs. Hopefully it clears up by this weekend.

Happy Valentine's Day

I LOVE Valentine's Day. We even got Chayleigh a little cute outfit. I haven't gotten Shawn anything, but I have a plan on what to get him that I will go out at lunch to buy. He got me a new CD and a Movie. It was cute.

I cut my hair

I cut about 12 inches off and donated it to the Locks of Love. I did this on January 29, 2006, but haven't gotten around to uploading a picture till now!

Me as a baby

This is a picture my dad sent me the other day. I can see a little of Chayleigh in it I think.

Happy Birthday Dad

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday and I actually called him. LOL. My sister and I sent him a book that he wanted and a gift certificate to Walmart so that he can pick up anything he needs. It was a nice conversation and can I say, I just can't believe that my Daddy is 52!

Nerd Score

I am nerdier than 14% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

Thanks Jeanne!

Biggest Loser

I love that show. I love how they kick ass and then come back after four months looking all great and stuff. I just want to have the willpower to lose some weight as well. Maybe I should send in my application to see if they will take me and get Jillian to whip my ass into shape.

Seriously though, I made a new year's resolution this year to drop some weight. Guess instead of "watching" tv, I need to live it. Now I just have to find the willpower. LOL.

Omacor - Yuck

Ug. I was diagnosed with high cholesterol, so my doc put me on prescription Omega 3, by Omacor. It is supposed to be better than the otc Omega 3 because you aren't supposed to "taste" the fish later. Yeah, well they lied. It is just as bad if not worse than the otc stuff. And to make it worse, I have to pay $45 a month for these stupid things. Hopefully it works though and I won't have to take the harder core drugs.

Weird Happening

Today I started this blog. Well I have found that I can't stay away from it. LOL! I think that I am going nuts. I can't tell Shawn about this or he would freak out. He is so "private" and I think that he is scared of the internet. LOL!

Anyway, I am glad to have this place to post. But I still don't think that I want it out there yet. Maybe in a while if I can keep it up.

About Us

I am Shawnie and I have been married to my DH for almost 5 years. We are the proud parents to a little girl named Chayleigh (pronounced Shaylee). She is the light of our lives and our whole reason for being.

Chayleigh was born 9-29-04, a month early. She was also diagnosed with having DDH, or Developmental Displacia of the Hips. She had bilateral, which means that both hips were affected. She was placed in a Pavlick Harness for a few weeks, which was able to fix one hip, but the other was still lose. So on January 10, 2005, Chayleigh went into a Hip Spica Cast. The cast went from her upper chest to her ankles on both sides. She was in the cast until April 5, 2005, with one cast change at the end of February. Then she went into a brace.

She came out of the brace right around her birthday and has been doing wonderfully since. She started crawling over Labor Day Weekend, 2005, and as of yet does not walk independantly, but walks around things all of the time. She is our little daredevil and doing wonderfully.

First Post

Well I decided that since EVERYONE is doing this, I should too. I am not sure if I will tell anyone that this exists since I am horrible at updating, but I thought it was worth a shot.

If I do publish this, then welcome to my life.
