We are celebrating DH's birthday. I went out and got his cake and some wrapping paper. Now I am waiting for Chayleigh to go to sleep so I can wrap all of his presents.
We are also getting Chayleigh's hair cut again in the morning and we have a few other errands to run. At least this weekend should be calmer than last weekend.

Just because
I wanted to post this picture because I LOVE her outfit. She wore it for the first time last weekend and we had to get a picture of her in it! She had the sweater on for all of two seconds.

My 2nd Diaper Cake
Attempt. It is for a co-worker who is due today. I gave her the cake a few weeks ago at her shower and she LOVED it. It was pretty cool, cause no one at work had ever seen it. I was even asked to make more. Guess that if all else fails, I can make those for a living. I definitely don't envy Misty there! LOL!

Sick again
Chayleigh is sick again. This time a fever. Ug, does it never end? I talked to my friend Sharon in TX and she recommended letting Chayleigh run around in her diaper. It seemed to work to lower her temp, until she took off her diaper! LOL! Thanks Shar! At least it got her temp down though!

New Bedding Set
This is Chayleigh's new bedding set. I have it washed up, but not in her crib yet. We also got a matching blanket for the car. Now we just need to find a valance and a lamp and then we can change out her baby room to a little girl room. We are still planning on keeping her in her crib for a while longer though, but this way she will have her bedding when we move her to the toddler bed.

Sending Prayers
To Texas. Kristie's DH is in the hospital fighting a serious infection and can use the prayers. If you have any to spare (and even if you don't) please send them her way. Pray that he gets better and gets to come home and spend quality time with Kristie and Preston.
Also, tell him next time to hire the damn painters. It would have been cheaper! Sending you prayers and hugs Sweetie. I am here for you any time you need me!

Selfish??
I had a conversation with my Mom today about selling Chayleigh's baby stuff at a yard sale this summer. She proceeded to tell me that by making Chayleigh an only child I am being selfish. She said that I have no reason to feel as though she should be one. Then asked why I felt that way. So I let her have it. I told her that if she had to have a sibling like Shawn or I had growing up, then she is better off without them. That shut her up. LOL!
Seriously, why do people always try to "pressure" you into having more kids? How come it has to be plural? Although this is all going to be mute now after talking to Shawn more. I am pretty sure that he wants to have another child eventually. I guess now I just have to convince myself that it is the right thing to do.
Personally, I will be fine with Chayleigh being an only child. It means that I can give her EVERYTHING that she needs. She will be able to have everything that a child should have. I will be able to buy her a car for her 16th birthday and pay for her college. Although, realistically, if we have two, we should be able to swing it too, right??

18 Month Well Baby Check
Wow. Where has the past 17.5 months gone? We did her appt a few weeks early, but that is just how the appt worked.
She is doing well. Really tall and skinny, which works for her I guess.
Height - 33.5 inches (95%)
Weight - 21lbs 4oz (9%)
Head - 18.75 inches (75%)
All in all she is doing well. Stayed on her "normal" growth curve. Doc was impressed that she was doing so well and glad that she was walking. Woohoo!!
Got one shot today. Guess that Hep A was just approved, so it is added to the shot routine. Ug. One more at 2 years and then we are done till 4! YAY!

Chayleigh's Ortho Visit
I can't believe I forgot to post this. LOL!
We went to the Ortho on 3-8-06 just for a check-up. He said that her hip is continuing to develop well and that he liked how it was going. He said that he could still see dysplacia in the right hip, but that the angles were exactly the same on both sides, so that is a good thing. He said that he wants to see her walking as soon as possible and that he would continue to monitor her progress on a quarterly basis until she is 4. He also said that worst case scenario, she would have to have another operation in a few years, but if she continues on the road that she is, then we will be in the clear. I am okay with that. I know that everything is going to be fine. Especially now that she is a walking machine! LOL!

Walking
It FINALLY happened! Chayleigh is walking. I am going to try to get a video of her uploaded as soon as I figure out how. We are so excited. She walked for about 20 minutes back and forth to Shawn and I. And then she started walking, clapping and saying "ball" all at once. We are so proud to FINALLY be the parents of a walking toddler!!!

Thinking
I have been thinking about my internet buddies this week. Wondering how they are doing. LOL! Although I talk to some of them, I still wonder, kwim?
Barb - I hope that you have a wonderful time in NY this weekend.
Leslie - I wonder how Carly and Riley are getting along and how Riley's ears are doing and how Carly is doing with her new bottles.
Jeanne - I hope that your weekend of packing goes smoothly. I also hope that you get the answers you are looking for.
Alex - Have fun at the store this weekend. Eat some maple products for me. LOL!
Jen - How are you feeling? Haven't seen from you in a while. Hope that you are doing well.
Sara - How are you doing on your caffeine strike?
Jessica - Wondering about your lack of poop posts.
Allie - Where the heck did your blog go and how in the world does your child know so much? LOL!
There are others as well, but my mind has shut down today. I will try to think later.

Things
I was just thinking about how things that happen in your life shape you to be the person that you are. I always wonder what would be different if I could just change one little thing. But then I realize that even that one little thing shaped me into the person that I am today. Interesting how certain things take you back to wonder if you made the right decision back then.

Flu Update
Well the good news is that Shawn and Chayleigh are both better. Bad news is that last night was my turn. I am at work today, but not sure how long I will make it. Good news is that now I have lost a total of 11lbs! Woohoo stomach flu! LOL!

Still sick
Man, this totally sucks. What a way to waste a weekend. She was doing so well and then again, she started puking. I just don't get it. I guess that she might have to stay home from DC tomorrow if she doesn't start feeling better soon. She has been sleeping for almost 4 hours now though. I hope that she feels better when she wakes up.
Other fun is that I got my mom's carpet cleaner, so maybe we can salvage our furniture. LOL!

Update
Okay, nevermind. Puking is back in full force. Guess we have ourselves a case of the stomach flu. About 10 minutes after I posted, she projectile vomited all over me, the couch and the blanket. Oh thrill oh joy! I am tired of poop, puke and laundry. I sure hope that this passes quickly. Guess I am off to the store for some Pedilyite.

Sick Again
Woke up this morning to Chayleigh screaming in a pool of puke. That was great. Not only was it 6am, but it was EVERYWHERE! We threw out the sheet and washed everything else. She got a bath (and we all know how well she likes those) and ate a little toast, then puked again. Finally got her to eat a few saltines and keep them down and got some Advil in her and it was 9:30. And then came the runs. OMG they are horrible and they stink. At 10, she and Shawn napped until 2:30, when she woke up. She still has the runs, but thankfully no more puking. I can handle runs, but puke makes me want to run screaming away. So, now Shawn is sick too and is in bed and I am alone with puky stinky baby! LOL! What the hell was I thinking wanting it to be the weekend? Now I am looking forward to Monday if nothing else to get away from this! The only good thing is that we all got to get a few naps in and Chayleigh is almost back to her normal self.

New Bedding
Chayleigh currently has a generic Winnie the Pooh bedding set that we got because at the time, we were going to have more kids. Now I want something more girly. I really like this Strawberry Shortcake set, but it is for a toddler bed. It would work with her crib because it is the same size, but should I just live with the Winnie the Pooh until she gets a "real bed"? What would you do?

Friday
I really love Fridays! They are the end of the week and Shawn gets off early, so I actually get to spend a little time with him and Chayleigh both before she goes to bed.
This week has been really rough at work, so that is another reason I am glad to see it end.

Update
Well today definitely got a lot better. We found out that they were very sorry for scaring the entire plant, so they told everyone what was going on today. I guess that their headquarters in WI has a huge project that they are working on and they have exhausted the temps in the area, so they are recruiting workers from their other sites to come and work 60 hours a week for a month or two. And the special "urgent" meeting that they are having on Monday is to announce a new contract (big money) for the plant here! So needless to say, I freaked out for nothing! Thanks girls for helping me through it though. I am so happy to get to share the "good" news with you too!!

Life
Why is it that just when you think that things are looking up, life kicks you a good one right between the legs?
Shawn just found out that there is a good possibility that his plant is going to close. This is devastating news because we are very dependant on his job and his benefits. We won't know anything for sure until Monday, but hopefully this weekend, he will spend some time getting his resume together just in case.
He has been with this company for 12 years. This just sucks. The only good news is that there are other plants around us that he could work at, but of course for a lot less money. I just hope that this means that there is something better out there for us.

Diet and Lent
Well this diet is getting harder. I think that it is because AF is supposed to start. I have given up chocolate for Lent. Shouldn't be too hard since I am not really a fan of it anyway. LOL!
Good news is that in the two weeks I have been on this horrible diet, I have lost 4 lbs. Hey, it is a start at least.
